The narrative explains: “Years ago, (he) was an underdog in New York. His gambling losses led him to commit a brutal murder in Alabama, for which he was sent to a chain gang. However, he escaped and fearing the law, shipped for Africa as a stoker! Jumping ship at Mombasa, he left for the interior and eventually became leader of the Lassu, a native tribe which he rules by brutality!!
